Full Article: MapmyIndia Mappls has integrated its Mappls App with India Post’s DIGIPIN system, introducing a digital addressing solution across India. This development allows users to generate a unique DIGIPIN, a 10-character digital address code, for any location in the country through the Mappls App.

The collaboration involves two-way integration. MapmyIndia has incorporated DIGIPIN into the Mappls App, enabling users to create and access digital addresses. Concurrently, India Post has adopted MapmyIndia’s Map APIs into its systems to enhance location identification and service delivery.

DIGIPIN aims to simplify and standardize address formats. It provides users with a 10-character code that is easy to share and recall. Each DIGIPIN corresponds to a specific location within a 3.8m x 3.8m grid. The system does not store personal data and can be used without disclosing sensitive information. Integration with the Mappls App allows users to retrieve full address details and navigate or share them with ease.

The Mappls App supports interoperability and uses the Indian NavIC satellite system, offering a location technology platform that is compatible with various systems and devices. By entering a DIGIPIN in the app, users can directly access accurate location data.

The combination of DIGIPIN and Mappls Pin is intended to assist with last-mile service delivery. The Mappls Pin adds additional context such as floor numbers, building names, and landmarks. This can be useful in logistics, emergency services, utility management, and similar applications where precise address data is needed.

For businesses, government bodies, and developers looking to integrate digital addressing into their workflows, the Mappls App and related APIs provide a platform to implement DIGIPIN-based solutions.

This integration is positioned to support national initiatives that seek to improve digital infrastructure and address standardization across urban and rural areas.

Mappls App is currently the first platform to integrate the DIGIPIN system at scale, making digital address access possible in both urban and remote regions of India.
