MaxVolt Energy Industries Limited has performed the Bhoomi Pujan for its planned 10 GWh lithium battery pack manufacturing and assembly campus in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The project involves an investment of approximately ₹700 crore and is expected to expand the company’s battery manufacturing capacity across electric mobility, energy storage, telecom and power backup applications.
The Aligarh facility will be developed in two phases, with each phase planned to add 5 GWh of annual capacity. According to the company, the first 5 GWh phase is targeted for commissioning within 24 to 30 months, while the second 5 GWh phase is planned within a further 18 months.
The project is located at the Industrial Estate, Khyamai, Aligarh, and will cover approximately 23,576 square metres, or around six acres.
MaxVolt Energy to Expand Battery Manufacturing Capacity
The new Aligarh campus will focus on battery pack manufacturing and assembly. The facility will integrate battery management systems (BMS), chargers and inverters and is planned to serve applications ranging from 1 kW to 2 MW.
MaxVolt Energy said the facility will include dedicated OEM production lines and will also support battery requirements for four-wheeler electric vehicles. The company’s product range is expected to include battery systems supporting slow charging as well as L3/L5 fast-charging applications.
Once both phases of the Aligarh project are operational, MaxVolt Energy’s planned capacity will increase to 12.5 GWh per year, including the company’s existing 2.5 GWh facility at Duhai, Ghaziabad.
Project Timeline and Investment
The approximately ₹700 crore investment will be used to establish the Aligarh battery manufacturing and assembly campus. The company said construction activity has commenced following the Bhoomi Pujan.
The project is planned in two 5 GWh phases:
- Phase I: 5 GWh capacity, targeted within 24 to 30 months.
- Phase II: Additional 5 GWh capacity, targeted within a further 18 months.
- Combined planned capacity: 10 GWh at Aligarh.
- Total company capacity after expansion: 12.5 GWh per year, including the existing 2.5 GWh facility at Duhai.
MaxVolt Energy said the project could have a turnover potential of more than ₹6,800 crore per year at full capacity utilisation across both phases.
Employment Generation
The Aligarh campus is expected to generate 1,500 to 2,000 direct jobs and around 7,500 to 10,000 indirect employment opportunities, according to the company’s project details.
The development is also expected to support the broader battery and electric vehicle manufacturing ecosystem in the region through component suppliers, manufacturing activities and associated services.
