Organic Recycling Systems Limited (ORSL) has secured two Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Operations & Maintenance (EPCOM) contracts from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for the development of organic municipal solid waste-based Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants in Mysuru, Karnataka and Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

The combined value of the two contracts stands at ₹167.30 crore, including GST, strengthening ORSL’s presence in India’s growing CBG and waste-to-energy market.

The company disclosed the contracts in a regulatory filing dated September 8, 2026. The projects have been awarded to Solapur Bioenergy Systems Private Limited (SBSPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of ORSL.

Two CBG projects across Karnataka and Chhattisgarh

The first contract involves the development of an organic municipal solid waste-based CBG plant at Mysuru, Karnataka. The project has a contract value of ₹85.56 crore, including GST, and is expected to have a processing capacity of approximately 5 tonnes per day (TPD).

The second project is located in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, with a contract value of ₹81.74 crore, including GST. The facility is expected to process approximately 4.8 TPD of organic municipal solid waste.

Together, the two projects are expected to add approximately 9.8 TPD of aggregate CBG processing capacity to ORSL’s portfolio.

Both contracts are domestic projects awarded by BPCL.

Contracts include five-year O&M period

Under the terms disclosed by ORSL, both projects are scheduled for mechanical completion within 12 months from the date of the Letter of Acceptance (LOA), followed by full commissioning within the same 12-month period.

The contracts also include five years of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services after commissioning.

The EPCOM structure gives ORSL responsibility across the project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and long-term plant operations and maintenance.

According to the company, the extended O&M component provides an opportunity to establish a longer-term operating relationship with BPCL beyond the initial construction phase.

ORSL expands CBG footprint into two new states

The twin contracts represent a geographical expansion for ORSL, adding operating projects in Karnataka and Chhattisgarh.

The company said the projects will strengthen its position in the organic municipal solid waste-to-CBG segment, where organic waste can be converted into renewable gaseous fuel instead of being directed toward conventional disposal methods.

With approximately 9.8 TPD of combined processing capacity, the Mysuru and Raipur facilities are expected to add scale to ORSL’s CBG portfolio while allowing the company to demonstrate its integrated technology and project execution capabilities across different markets.

BPCL partnership strengthens ORSL’s PSU engagement

The latest contracts further deepen ORSL’s relationship with BPCL, one of India’s major public-sector oil marketing companies.

ORSL said the awards also add to its growing engagement with public-sector oil marketing companies. The company has previously secured an O&M contract for a CBG plant with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

The company expects increasing participation from public-sector oil marketing companies to create opportunities across technology development, project engineering, construction and long-term plant operations.

CBG sector supported by government initiatives

India’s CBG sector has been receiving increased policy attention as the country seeks to develop alternative sources of clean energy while addressing organic waste management.

Government initiatives such as the Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT) programme and the GOBARdhan National Circular Bioenergy Scheme are supporting the development of CBG infrastructure.

The growing focus on converting organic waste into useful energy, combined with participation from oil marketing companies, is creating opportunities for companies operating across the CBG project lifecycle.

ORSL marks major growth milestone

The latest BPCL contracts mark a significant addition to ORSL’s order book, with ₹167.30 crore of new EPCOM business secured through the two projects.

The company said the contracts expand its presence into two additional states while strengthening its engagement with a major PSU oil marketing company.

The five-year O&M mandates attached to both projects also provide ORSL with an extended operating relationship following project commissioning.
