Azimuth AI and Cyient Semiconductors announced the launch of ARKA GKT-1, India’s first-generation IP-powered silicon chip engineered for high-efficiency edge AI and smart energy applications. The announcement was made on 17 November 2025 in New Delhi.
The chip was formally unveiled by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics & IT, marking a significant development in India’s push toward semiconductor self-reliance and advancement in deep-tech design.
ARKA GKT-1 has been co-developed by Azimuth AI and Cyient Semiconductors as a highly integrated, ultra-low-power system-on-chip (SoC). The solution combines multi-core custom computation, advanced analog sensing, memory subsystems and intelligent power management into a single platform. It is designed for deployment across smart utilities, advanced metering infrastructure, battery management, smart city systems and industrial automation, enabling real-time, energy-efficient intelligence at the edge.
The first-generation platform is built on Azimuth AI’s Software-Defined Silicon architecture, paired with Cyient Semiconductors’ capabilities in mixed-signal design, power technologies and low-energy ASIC development, offering a flexible base for domestic and international markets.
According to Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the launch demonstrates India’s growing ability to design and develop world-class semiconductor technologies for global industries, aligning with the government’s broader focus on advanced manufacturing and innovation.
Cyient Semiconductors’ Executive Vice-Chairman & Managing Director Krishna Bodanapu said the ARKA GKT-1 represents a major leap in India’s semiconductor journey. He highlighted that the program reflects a complete custom ASIC turnkey solution, from design to fab and final chip delivery, strengthening the domestic semiconductor value chain.
Azimuth AI Founder & CEO Praveen Yasarapu noted that the chip aligns with rising demand in high-growth sectors such as smart utilities, energy management, industrial intelligence and battery systems. The launch, he said, validates the company’s technology roadmap and prepares the platform for commercial scaling.
The innovation marks a notable step for both organisations in advancing India’s semiconductor design ecosystem, particularly in edge-AI and industrial intelligence domains.
