CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited has commissioned a new Extra High-Voltage (EHV) switchgear manufacturing facility in Nashik, Maharashtra, strengthening its presence in the power transmission and electrical equipment sector. The company announced that commercial production at the facility commenced on June 4, 2026.
The newly commissioned S3 Unit-II facility, located at Pimpalgaon Garudeshwar in Nashik, has been established to manufacture EHV circuit breakers in the 33 kV to 245 kV range. The plant also houses advanced testing infrastructure, including 500 kV and 350 kV high-voltage testing laboratories, aimed at supporting growing demand from domestic and international markets.
According to the company’s regulatory filing, the existing S3 Unit-I facility has an annual manufacturing capacity of 9,000 EHV circuit breakers and is currently operating at approximately 85% utilization. The new facility adds annual production capacity of 7,200 units, resulting in an overall capacity expansion of around 80%.
CG Power stated that the facility has been commissioned as part of its broader switchgear expansion strategy. In October 2025, the company had announced plans to establish a greenfield switchgear manufacturing project with an estimated investment of ₹748.20 crore. The project was designed to strengthen the company’s position in medium-voltage and extra high-voltage switchgear markets while expanding its product portfolio.
The company indicated that nearly 97% of the capital expenditure planned for the new facility will be utilized for the greenfield project. The investment made in the S3 Unit-II facility amounts to ₹39.49 crore and has been funded through internal accruals.
The facility has been developed to support increasing demand from utilities, railways, renewable energy projects, oil and gas companies, and transmission infrastructure developers. CG Power said the expansion would enhance its ability to serve both domestic and export markets with high-voltage transmission equipment.
The company also highlighted several sustainability-focused features incorporated into the facility, including energy-efficient systems, rainwater harvesting, water recycling infrastructure, and zero liquid discharge operations. These measures are expected to improve resource efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
Commenting on the development, Amar Kaul, Group CEO and Managing Director of CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited, said the commissioning of the new unit represents an important milestone in the company’s growth strategy and reflects confidence in long-term opportunities arising from renewable energy integration, transmission infrastructure expansion, and rising demand for high-voltage power equipment.
