Heritage Foods Limited announced the inauguration of a new ice cream manufacturing facility at Shamirpet near Hyderabad, Telangana, marking a significant expansion in its value-added dairy business. The new greenfield plant is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the rapidly growing ice cream segment in India.
The facility has been developed with modern automated production systems and advanced quality control infrastructure designed to ensure consistent product quality and operational efficiency. According to the company, the plant has an installed production capacity of approximately 24 million litres per annum, with provisions for future expansion as demand increases.
Heritage Foods stated that the new manufacturing unit will support the company’s long-term growth strategy in the value-added dairy category. The commissioning of the Shamirpet plant is expected to enhance the company’s ability to expand its product offerings and cater to the rising consumer demand for premium ice cream products.
The company’s ice cream segment currently generates around ₹100 crore in annual revenue. With the new facility operational, Heritage Foods expects to significantly expand its production capacity and scale its ice cream business to nearly five times its current size over the next seven to eight years.
The new facility is equipped with advanced production lines, automated filling and packaging systems, and stringent quality assurance processes. These capabilities are expected to support product innovation and improve operational efficiency while maintaining high quality standards.
The plant will also strengthen Heritage Foods’ distribution capabilities, particularly across South and Western India, enabling faster product availability and improved supply chain efficiency. The company noted that rising disposable incomes, premiumisation trends, and increasing demand for packaged dairy products are driving strong growth in India’s ice cream market.
Commenting on the development, N. Bhuvaneswari, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of Heritage Foods, said the commissioning of the Shamirpet facility represents an important milestone in the company’s growth journey. She noted that the new plant will help the company scale operations, introduce innovative ice cream products, and strengthen its presence in key markets while maintaining the quality standards associated with the Heritage brand.
