Apollo Micro Systems Limited (AMS) has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana to set up a large-scale greenfield defence manufacturing project. The agreement was signed on December 8, 2025, during the Telangana Rising Global Summit in Hyderabad.
The project involves an estimated investment of around ₹1500 crore and is designed to significantly expand AMS’s capabilities in the production of warheads, rocket motors, and small, medium, and large calibre artillery systems. The new facility will also support the manufacturing and filling of ammunition, along with complete ammunition systems for artillery, rockets, and other armaments. The initiative is aimed at meeting both domestic and international defence requirements.
As part of the understanding, the Telangana Government will support AMS in securing approvals, permissions, and applicable incentives under existing state policies. The expansion is expected to boost supply chain resilience and reinforce the company’s presence in India’s rapidly growing defence manufacturing ecosystem.
The greenfield project will further strengthen AMS’s long-term strategic roadmap by integrating advanced production capabilities and creating synergies with its group companies, including IDL Explosives Ltd. This alignment is expected to enable the group to cater to explosive requirements for various defence systems more efficiently.
AMS stated that the initiative is in line with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission and reinforces its commitment to building high-reliability, indigenous defence technologies. The company noted that this expansion marks one of the most significant developments in its four-decade journey, positioning it as an even stronger contributor to India’s defence self-reliance.
