MapmyIndia, through its consumer brand Mappls, has expanded the capabilities of its flagship Mappls App by introducing multimodal public transport route planning. The latest update enables users to access metro rail and bus route information directly within the app, enhancing everyday commuting and urban mobility planning.

With this expansion, the Mappls App integrates public transport options alongside existing private navigation features, positioning the platform as a comprehensive multimodal mobility solution. Users can now view public transport routes, stations, stops and interchange points, allowing for more efficient journey planning and smoother transitions between different modes of travel.

The multimodal public transport feature is currently available in select cities including Delhi Mumbai Bengaluru Chennai Hyderabad Kolkata Pune Ahmedabad Jaipur Kochi and Bhopal, among others. The functionality is live on iOS and web platforms, while an Android rollout is scheduled in the near term.

MapmyIndia stated that the new capability builds on its existing navigation services such as turn by turn guidance real time traffic updates safety alerts and intelligent routing. By bringing public transport data into its navigation ecosystem, the company aims to support sustainable urban mobility while reducing congestion and emissions in major cities.

The development also aligns with MapmyIndia’s broader strategy of strengthening indigenous digital infrastructure. The company continues to focus on expanding public transport coverage in collaboration with transport authorities and ecosystem partners, with plans to scale the feature to additional cities across India.

As cities look to promote mass transit adoption, MapmyIndia’s Mappls App is positioned to play a growing role in helping commuters make informed travel choices using reliable locally built mapping and navigation technology.
