TVS Supply Chain Solutions Limited (TVS SCS) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan-based Sankyu Inc. to explore growth opportunities across supply chain and engineering services. As part of the proposed collaboration, Sankyu intends to acquire a 0.5% equity stake in TVS Supply Chain Solutions, subject to customary regulatory approvals.

The partnership is aimed at combining TVS SCS’s supply chain capabilities, market presence and customer relationships with Sankyu’s engineering expertise, logistics operations and established relationships across Japan’s industrial ecosystem. The companies plan to explore integrated solutions covering logistics, warehousing, transportation, engineering services, maintenance and on-site industrial support.

The initial focus of the collaboration will be on India, where both companies see opportunities to support manufacturing and industrial customers through a broader range of supply chain and engineering services. According to the companies, more than 1,400 Japanese companies operate in India, providing a potential customer base for the partnership as manufacturers expand their operations and supply chain requirements.

The collaboration is also expected to explore opportunities across other Asian markets, the Middle East and Africa. The two companies plan to leverage their respective geographical presence and capabilities to develop solutions for customers in markets where they already have established operations.

As part of the strategic arrangement, TVS SCS and Sankyu will establish a joint steering committee with representatives from both organisations. The committee will identify growth opportunities, oversee strategic initiatives and support the development of integrated services.

TVS Supply Chain Solutions Chairman R. Dinesh said the partnership is intended to strengthen the company’s capabilities and market presence while combining its integrated supply chain expertise with Sankyu’s engineering capabilities and relationships within the Japanese industrial ecosystem.

Sankyu President and CEO Kimihiro Nakamura said the company views the partnership as an opportunity to combine the capabilities of both organisations and pursue growth in global markets while supporting industrial development.

The proposed 0.5% equity acquisition by Sankyu remains subject to regulatory approvals. The collaboration is expected to provide TVS SCS and Sankyu with an avenue to jointly pursue opportunities in supply chain management, engineering services and industrial support, with India serving as the initial focus market.
