EaseMyTrip has announced the rollout of electric buses in Bhopal through its electric mobility arm, Easy Green Mobility (EMTev), as part of its Vision 2030 roadmap. The company is working towards developing capabilities to manufacture 5,000 electric buses annually within the next five years.
The Bhopal deployment marks an expansion of EaseMyTrip’s operations into electric commercial mobility, with the company focusing on electric bus manufacturing, fleet operations, service support and localisation of components.
EaseMyTrip Expands Into Electric Bus Manufacturing
EMTev’s electric bus business is being developed around an integrated mobility model covering vehicle manufacturing, fleet management, servicing and technology-enabled operations. The company’s operating approach builds on the experience of YOLO Bus, EMTev’s operating arm, which already runs conventional intercity buses across several southern Indian markets.
According to the company, the Vision 2030 roadmap includes building manufacturing and operational capabilities to support the expansion of electric commercial transportation in India.
EMTev Electric Bus Portfolio
EMTev’s initial electric bus portfolio includes a 12-metre electric seater coach with a seating capacity of 45+ passengers. The bus is equipped with an LFP battery offering 423.9 kWh of total energy capacity.
The electric bus features a PMSM motor, air suspension, EBS with ESC braking and EHPS steering. It has a stated range of up to 350 km and a maximum speed of up to 100 km per hour.
The bus uses an LFP battery pack with liquid cooling technology and supports fast charging through a dual-gun configuration. Its fixed-battery architecture is designed for charging at designated charging locations.
Vehicle Monitoring and ADAS Technology
EMTev is also incorporating technology-based monitoring into its electric bus operations. The buses are equipped with EBS and ESC systems along with camera-based monitoring systems.
A centralised control tower is being developed to continuously monitor vehicle and battery data. The system is intended to support the proactive identification of potential issues before deployment.
The company is also developing AI-enabled driver monitoring and blind-spot detection capabilities, with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) forming part of its broader technology roadmap.
12-Metre and 13.5-Metre Buses Receive Type Approval
According to EaseMyTrip, EMTev’s 12-metre and 13.5-metre electric bus models have received type approval. The company’s immediate focus is on fulfilling committed electric bus deliveries while expanding the operational and service infrastructure required to support future growth.
The electric buses are designed to operate without tailpipe emissions, providing an alternative to conventional diesel-powered transportation. EaseMyTrip said the deployment is also intended to support greater adoption of electric mobility in intercity transportation.
Focus on Localisation of Electric Vehicle Components
EMTev has identified localisation of electric vehicle components as a key part of its manufacturing strategy. The company plans to progressively increase domestic sourcing and manufacturing through a phased approach.
The localisation programme is aimed at strengthening domestic capabilities and reducing dependence on imported components. The company also expects increased localisation to contribute to domestic value creation and employment across manufacturing, fleet operations, service support and related activities.
EaseMyTrip Vision 2030
EaseMyTrip’s Vision 2030 strategy extends beyond its core online travel business into tourism infrastructure, transportation and sustainable mobility. Through EMTev, the company is seeking to establish capabilities across electric bus manufacturing, operations and component localisation.
The company’s target of manufacturing 5,000 electric buses annually within five years forms part of its longer-term plan to build scale in electric commercial mobility and support the development of domestic manufacturing capabilities.
