Kernex Microsystems (India) Ltd has secured a major railway safety contract worth ₹475.21 crore from Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), strengthening the company’s order book and expanding its presence in India’s railway safety infrastructure segment.

According to the company’s regulatory filing, the contract has been awarded for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of On-board KAVACH locomotive equipment in accordance with RDSO specifications version 4.0 or the latest applicable standards.

The order was awarded by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, a domestic railway manufacturing unit, and is expected to be executed within 12 months from the date of the contract award.

KAVACH is an indigenous train collision avoidance system designed to improve railway safety by preventing signal passing at danger (SPAD), overspeeding and potential collision incidents. The technology forms a key part of the Indian Railways modernization initiative aimed at enhancing operational safety across the network.

The company stated that the strategic contract improves revenue visibility while reinforcing its position within the railway safety sector. Large-scale deployment of KAVACH systems across locomotives and railway routes continues to create opportunities for technology providers involved in signaling and safety equipment.

The filing also stated that the contract is domestic in nature and does not involve any related-party transaction. Additionally, the company confirmed that promoters or promoter group entities do not have any interest in the awarding authority.

The latest order adds to Kernex Microsystems’ growing portfolio in railway signaling and safety systems, an area receiving increasing attention due to the ongoing expansion and modernization plans of Indian Railways.
