Datamatics, a provider of Digital Technologies, has been awarded the contract to design, supply, install, test, and integrate an Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system for 23 stations on Pune Metro Line 3 in Maharashtra, India. This system will cover the 23 km elevated route from Hinjewadi to Civil Court (Shivaji Nagar) in Pune.

The project, part of a public-private partnership between the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) and private partners, will modernize urban transit infrastructure. The AFC system will offer a seamless, multi-modal payment experience using EMV contactless cards and QR-based ticketing, in line with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) standard. This will make commuting more efficient and flexible across different transit operators in Pune.

The new system will help manage passenger flow, reduce fraud risks, and boost revenue collection. With real-time traffic and revenue data, it will also improve operational efficiency by reducing the need for manual ticketing.
