Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) and TotalEnergies have launched a strategic joint venture to manage a 1,150 MW solar portfolio at Khavda, Gujarat. AGEL will contribute its assets, and TotalEnergies will invest USD 444 million to speed up development.
This partnership aims to boost India’s clean energy transition, with power sold through agreements with the Solar Energy Corporation of India and the wholesale market.
AGEL is building the world’s largest renewable energy plant on barren land in Khavda, Gujarat, spanning 538 square kilometers—five times the size of Paris. The site already has 2,250 MW of solar and wind capacity operational.
When finished, the plant will provide affordable clean energy to over 16 million homes in India, create over 15,200 green jobs, and reduce CO2 emissions by about 58 million tons annually. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
