Transport Corporation of India Limited (TCI), an integrated logistics and supply chain solutions provider, has announced a strategic collaboration with aerospace logistics company FLYING WHALES to enhance advanced logistics capabilities across India. The partnership aims to introduce next-generation heavy-lift air cargo solutions designed to improve transportation efficiency and connectivity, particularly in remote and infrastructure-constrained regions.
The collaboration combines TCI’s extensive multimodal logistics network with FLYING WHALES’ LCA60T aeronautical program, a rigid cargo airship engineered to transport heavy and oversized cargo. The LCA60T airship offers a payload capacity of up to 60 tons and can load and unload cargo while hovering, eliminating dependence on conventional ground infrastructure such as runways or heavy lifting facilities.
The initiative is expected to support sustainable logistics by enabling low-carbon transportation of goods, especially bulky and mission-critical equipment. The airship-based logistics model allows point-to-point delivery in challenging terrains, helping address logistical bottlenecks in landlocked and geographically complex areas.
FLYING WHALES is also progressing discussions to establish a global operational hub in Tamil Nadu as part of its expansion strategy across the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions. The collaboration with TCI is expected to accelerate deployment and commercial adoption of the technology within India.
The partnership is designed to serve industries that require transportation of over-dimensional cargo, including defense, energy and power, infrastructure, and construction sectors. The solution may also play a significant role in disaster response, emergency logistics, and healthcare supply delivery during natural calamities.
With TCI operating a nationwide logistics network supported by hubs, warehouses, and multimodal transport capabilities across road, rail, coastal shipping, and air freight, the collaboration aligns with India’s broader push toward integrated multimodal connectivity and modernization of logistics infrastructure. Industry participants expect the initiative to enhance operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact and expanding access to remote locations.
