VA TECH WABAG , a prominent Indian multinational specializing in water technology, continues to enhance its footprint and solidify its leadership in the Middle East with a substantial order valued at approximately USD 317 million (around SAR 1,190 million / INR 2,700 crores) from the Saudi Water Authority (SWA).

WABAG’s exceptional track record and technologically advanced proposal were pivotal in securing this prestigious contract for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) of a 300 Million Litres per Day (MLD) Mega Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination Plant in Yanbu, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

The Saudi Water Authority (SWA), formerly the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), manages over 40 desalination plants and 139 purification stations to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The new EPCC contract involves designing, engineering, and constructing a 300 MLD Mega Desalination Plant on the west coast, near Yanbu al-Bahr.

Scheduled for completion in 30 months, the plant will use advanced desalination technologies, including Dual Media Filters and a two-pass Reverse Osmosis process, to produce high-quality potable water in line with environmental standards.

WABAG has been working in Saudi Arabia for over 40 years, and globally has built over 60 desalination plants in 17 countries. Mr. Rohan Mittal, Head of Strategy & Business Growth – GCC, praised the recent major contract with SWA, noting it supports Saudi Vision 2030 and underscores WABAG’s expertise and global leadership in desalination.
