Tata Power Q1 FY27 Profit Rises 11% to ₹1,401 Crore as Revenue Reaches ₹18,898 Crore and Quarterly Capex Hits Record ₹5,375 Crore

Tata Power reported an 11% year-on-year increase in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) for the first quarter of FY27, supported by growth across its generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy and manufacturing businesses. The company also recorded its highest-ever quarterly capital expenditure as it continued expanding its clean energy and power infrastructure portfolio.

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Tata Power posted a consolidated PAT of ₹1,401 crore, compared with ₹1,262 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Consolidated revenue rose 8% year-on-year to ₹18,898 crore, while EBITDA increased 8% to ₹4,249 crore.

The company said operational performance remained supported by improvements across its core generation, transmission, distribution and renewable energy businesses.

Solar manufacturing and renewable business record growth

Tata Power’s renewable energy business reported a PAT of ₹612 crore during the quarter, an increase of 15% from the year-ago period. The company’s solar cell and module manufacturing business delivered a PAT of ₹371 crore, marking nearly 3.9 times growth compared with Q1 FY26.

The rooftop solar business also expanded, with PAT rising to ₹145 crore, supported by higher installations and increasing residential and commercial adoption. During the quarter, Tata Power installed 371 MWp of rooftop solar capacity, up 37% year-on-year, while rooftop solar revenue reached ₹1,350 crore.

The company’s cumulative rooftop solar installation base now stands at 5.2 GW and serves more than 4.8 lakh customers through a nationwide network of 3,778 authorised channel partners and retailers.

Manufacturing expansion continues

Tata Power achieved its highest-ever quarterly solar manufacturing output during the quarter, producing 1,001 MW of solar modules and 862 MW of solar cells.

The company also continued work on its planned 10 GW integrated solar manufacturing facility covering photovoltaic cells and wafers. Land development and environmental clearance activities are currently underway following the signing of a land agreement in Gujarat.

Transmission and distribution businesses expand

The transmission business secured a Letter of Intent from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited for the 491 circuit-kilometre Kalyana Karnataka transmission project valued at over ₹4,000 crore.

Tata Power’s total transmission portfolio increased to 7,894 circuit kilometres, with another 2,332 circuit kilometres currently under construction.

In the distribution business, Odisha DISCOM operations reported PAT of ₹111 crore, up 6% year-on-year. The company said operational improvements and higher consumer demand contributed to the performance.

Pumped hydro, cross-border energy and generation projects progress

The company continued work on the 1,000 MW Bhivpuri Pumped Storage Project in Maharashtra. It secured a Letter of Award from SECI to supply 324 MW of round-the-clock renewable power for 40 years from the project.

Tata Power also expanded its cross-border clean energy initiatives through long-term hydropower agreements linked to projects in Bhutan, including the 600 MW Khorlochhu project and the 404 MW Nyera Amari hydropower project.

The company’s Mundra thermal power plant resumed full 4,150 MW operations from April 1, 2026, and continues supplying power during periods of peak electricity demand.

EV charging network and renewable portfolio grow

Tata Power expanded its electric vehicle charging infrastructure, with its EV charging network now comprising more than 2.4 lakh home chargers, 7,900 public charging points and over 1,200 charging points for electric buses across 717 cities and towns.

Its renewable energy portfolio reached 12 GW, including 6.7 GW of operational capacity and 5.3 GW under development.

During the quarter, Tata Power also commissioned Ladakh’s first commercial rooftop solar installation and a 100.8 MW wind power project in Maharashtra.

Management commentary

According to the company, the first quarter reflected continued execution across multiple business segments as investments in renewable energy, manufacturing, storage solutions and grid infrastructure progressed. Tata Power said it remains focused on strengthening clean energy capabilities through domestic manufacturing, pumped hydro storage, battery energy storage systems and renewable power development.
