Brigade Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Brigade Group, proudly announces the inauguration of the first phase of the ‘Brigade-BCIC Skill Development Academy (BBSDA) – a Centre of Excellence’. Located on a 5-acre site in Aerospace Park, Bangalore North, the academy features cutting-edge facilities designed to enhance skill development.
Launched in collaboration with the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) as knowledge partners, BBSDA aligns with Brigade Foundation’s core mission to make a significant impact on the lives of the unemployed and underemployed.
This not-for-profit initiative aims to address industry needs and improve employability through specialized training in construction, hospitality and tourism, manufacturing, and retail sectors. The academy is affiliated with the Construction Skills Development Council of India and the Tourism and Hospitality Sector Council of India.
At the inauguration, M. R. Jaishankar, Executive Chairman of Brigade Enterprises Limited, emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to education, health, and community development. “Brigade Foundation is dedicated to skill development and job creation, and the establishment of BBSDA reflects our commitment to these goals. With a current shortage of over 1.1 million skilled workers in key sectors, this academy, in collaboration with BCIC, will focus on developing relevant curricula and identifying candidates for training. This initiative supports the Government of India’s Skill India program and aims to bridge the skills gap while enhancing employability.”
Vineet Verma, President of BCIC, added, “As the knowledge partner for BBSDA, BCIC is confident that our network of over 880 member companies will significantly benefit Karnataka’s industrial growth. BBSDA will provide valuable training for both newcomers and current professionals, fostering a skilled workforce and boosting productivity. This collaboration between industry and academia presents a unique opportunity to improve employment prospects.”
