Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has signed a contract with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, for the normal refit of the Mauritius Coast Guard Ship CGS Barracuda (MCGS Barracuda).

The refit will be undertaken by GRSE, and the ship, a warship, was originally constructed and delivered to the Government of Mauritius for their Coast Guard in 2014. The contract includes both services and mandatory spares as per the Delivery List (DL). Any additional spares required for extra work will be considered under “Growth of Work.” The order is awarded by the domestic entity, MEA, GoI, as a grant to the Government of Mauritius, an international entity.

The refit is expected to be completed within 10 months from the date the ship is made available at GRSE in Kolkata. The total value of the contract is ₹23.07 crore, plus 15% for any additional work and spares, excluding taxes.
