HCLTech and Microsoft have partnered with Cricket Australia (CA) to enhance the fan experience during live matches via the Cricket Australia Live app, using generative AI (GenAI). The new AI Insights feature provides real-time, text-based updates, offering fans deeper insights into key moments, player performances, and milestones beyond the scores and commentary.

Launching today at the Day-Night Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) during the CommBank Women’s Ashes series, the AI companion is now available to all users of the Cricket Australia Live app worldwide.

Sonia Eland, Executive Vice President at HCLTech, noted, “By harnessing GenAI, we can revolutionize how fans engage with sports, bringing them closer to the action.” The initiative also leverages Microsoft’s Azure Open AI Service, with development support from HCLTech to create an accessible, AI-driven companion for cricket fans.

This collaboration follows a long-standing partnership between HCLTech and Cricket Australia, which began in 2019 and was extended in 2023 for another five years. The partnership has led to initiatives like TechJam and helped make the Cricket Australia Live app the top sports app in Australia.

Nick Hockley, CEO of Cricket Australia, shared his excitement: “We’re thrilled to bring fans closer to the game through this innovation.”
