Premier Energies Limited has commissioned a 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R2 solar cell manufacturing facility at Naidupeta in Andhra Pradesh. The company said the facility was commissioned on schedule and within the planned budget, taking its total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 10.6 GW.
The new plant has been developed across 101 acres with a capital expenditure of approximately ₹3,293 crore. According to Premier Energies, the facility is designed to manufacture around 88,000 solar cells per hour and is intended to support future upgrades to advanced TOPCon+ technologies.
Premier Energies Expands Solar Cell Manufacturing Capacity
The commissioning of the Naidupeta facility significantly increases Premier Energies’ solar cell manufacturing scale. The company said the plant has been designed for high-throughput manufacturing, with digital systems and automation integrated across production processes.
The facility uses advanced digital systems and artificial intelligence-based capabilities for predictive performance analysis, process control and precision manufacturing. Automated transport, packing and packaging systems have also been incorporated to improve production throughput, consistency and operating efficiency.
Premier Energies said the additional capacity is intended to support demand for high-efficiency solar products in both domestic and international markets.
7 GW Facility Designed for TOPCon+ Upgrades
The newly commissioned 7 GW facility has been designed with provisions for future upgrades to next-generation TOPCon+ solar cell technologies. These include technologies such as poly-finger metallisation and advanced edge-isolation processes.
Following stabilisation and ramp-up, the facility is targeting an average solar cell efficiency of approximately 25.8%, according to the company.
The plant is also equipped with a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system designed to maximise water recycling and reuse. The system is intended to support water conservation and resource management within the manufacturing operations.
Premier Energies’ Integrated Manufacturing Expansion
Premier Energies said the Naidupeta facility forms part of its broader manufacturing expansion strategy. The company is undertaking a ₹12,500 crore capital expenditure programme over three years, aimed at expanding solar manufacturing capacity, increasing backward integration into ingots and wafers, and diversifying into inverters, transformers and battery energy storage systems.
With the commissioning of the new facility, Premier Energies’ total solar cell manufacturing capacity has increased to 10.6 GW.
The company said the expansion is intended to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities and supply-chain integration while supporting the growing demand for high-efficiency solar products.
