Infibeam Avenues Ltd, a leading fintech company, has signed a strategic MoU with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore to collaborate on research and development of real-time deepfake detection technology. This initiative aims to enhance digital security for government agencies, corporations, and organizations by addressing the growing threats posed by AI-generated deception.

With deepfake technology becoming increasingly sophisticated, the risks of misinformation, financial fraud, identity theft, and cyber threats have escalated. A striking example occurred in January 2024, when scammers used deepfake technology to impersonate company executives in a live video call, leading to a $25 million loss for a Hong Kong-based multinational firm.

To counter these threats, Infibeam’s AI unit, Phronetic.AI, has developed an advanced real-time deepfake detection system that actively verifies live video interactions. In collaboration with IISc’s Vision and AI Lab, the company aims to refine its detection algorithms, ensuring they remain effective against evolving deepfake technology. Infibeam has also filed a patent for its real-time deepfake detection algorithm.

This partnership will focus on creating a scalable, cost-effective, and user-friendly deepfake detection solution for industries such as banking, healthcare, finance, government, and law enforcement. By strengthening digital trust, the initiative seeks to protect individuals and organizations from AI-driven fraud and misinformation.
