Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has entered into a strategic partnership with UltraTech Cement Ltd., India’s largest cement producer. The collaboration focuses on transporting bulk cement using specialized tank containers, marking a major milestone in India’s transition towards sustainable, rail-based logistics.

As part of the agreement, CONCOR will deploy dedicated rakes across key rail corridors to facilitate bulk cement movement. This initiative is designed to shift large-scale cement transportation from road to rail, offering a more efficient and environmentally friendly logistics solution.

The move aligns with India’s vision for sustainable logistics and is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and minimize carbon emissions. Additionally, it will ease road congestion while promoting the use of the extensive Indian Railways network for industrial logistics.

The agreement was signed on October 7, 2025, in New Delhi, in the presence of UltraTech Cement Managing Director K.C. Jhanwar and CONCOR Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Swarup. The partnership is expected to set new benchmarks in bulk logistics and inspire scalable green logistics initiatives across other sectors.
