Full Article: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced two major collaborations aimed at accelerating India’s adoption of artificial intelligence (AI). The company has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud to establish a dedicated AI-focused cloud region in Jamnagar and separately entered into a joint venture with Meta to develop enterprise AI solutions.
Under the agreement with Google Cloud, Reliance will design, build and operate state-of-the-art cloud facilities in Jamnagar, powered by green energy and connected through Jio’s high-capacity network. The new cloud region will be aligned with Google Cloud’s global standards and will support advanced generative AI workloads. Reliance said the initiative will enable businesses, startups, developers and public sector organizations across India to access high-performance AI infrastructure.
Google Cloud will deploy its AI hypercomputer and provide a fully integrated stack of generative AI tools and applications. The infrastructure is expected to support Reliance’s retail, digital services, and other businesses in adopting AI-driven solutions.
In a parallel development, Reliance has partnered with Meta to launch a joint venture (JV) focused on enterprise AI solutions. The venture, backed by an initial investment of approximately ₹855 crore (US$100 million) with RIL holding 70% and Meta 30%, will develop platforms and tools based on Meta’s open-source Llama models. The JV will provide ready-to-deploy sector-specific AI solutions tailored to Indian enterprises and small businesses.
The partnership aims to offer enterprise-grade AI at affordable price points, with deployment options across cloud, on-premises and private infrastructure. Subject to regulatory approvals, the JV is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2025.
Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of RIL, said the collaborations mark a step toward “democratizing intelligence and enterprise-grade AI for every Indian.” He added that the initiatives would allow businesses of all sizes to innovate and compete on the global stage.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg welcomed the partnerships, highlighting their potential to expand India’s AI ecosystem and strengthen global collaboration in the field.
Reliance, India’s largest private sector company, reported consolidated revenue of ₹10,71,174 crore (US$125.3 billion) and net profit of ₹81,309 crore (US$9.5 billion) for the year ended March 31, 2025.
