Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the integrated Terminal 3 (T3) of the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA), which was constructed at a cost of Rs. 2,400 crore. T3 will serve both domestic and international flights, with a capacity to accommodate 4,000 passengers during peak hours.

Phase I of this state-of-the-art terminal can handle 8 million passengers annually, featuring elevated pathways to separate arrival and departure flows. Phase 2 aims to further increase capacity to 13 million passengers per annum.

During the event, Mr. Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd, outlined the ambitious vision for CCSIA, aiming to eventually serve 38 million passengers annually by 2047-48. This growth strategy aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s aspiration to become a one-trillion-dollar economy, generating over 13,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.

The terminal boasts modern amenities to enhance passenger convenience, including 72 check-in counters (including 17 for self-baggage drop) and 62 immigration counters. The newly constructed apron will expand passenger boarding gates from 7 to 13 and passenger boarding bridges from 2 to 7.

Currently, the airport serves 24 domestic and 8 international destinations, with plans for further expansion to improve operational efficiency. Technologies such as DigiYatra, common-use self-service kiosks, and advanced baggage screening machines will streamline travel processes.

The airport offers an immersive audio-visual experience showcasing the art and architecture of Uttar Pradesh, including motifs of ‘Chikankari’ and ‘Mukaish’ embroidery. Sustainability features and the use of recyclable materials underline its commitment to environmental responsibility.

Furthermore, the airport will function as a multi-modal travel hub with metro connectivity, intercity electric bus service, and app-based taxi services, enhancing accessibility and convenience for travelers.
