Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Sona Comstar), a prominent global provider of automotive technology solutions, proudly announces the attainment of two significant production milestones. The company has successfully manufactured 400 million differential gears and 6 million differential assemblies, marking a remarkable achievement in its pursuit of excellence.

Sona Comstar specializes in designing and manufacturing differential assemblies, precision-forged differential gears, and other driveline components for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, and Off-highway Vehicles. Notably, Sona Comstar stands as one of the largest manufacturers of differential assemblies for BEVs globally. According to Ricardo’s estimates, the company’s global market share of differential gears has risen to 8.1% in 2023 from 5.0% in 2020. Additionally, the company commands a market share for differential gears in India ranging from 60-90% across various vehicle categories.

Sona Comstar commenced production of precision forged differential gears at its Gurgaon, Haryana plant in 1999, expanding to a plant in Pune, Maharashtra in 2005. The company achieved the production milestones of 100 million gears in 2013, 200 million gears in early 2018, and 300 million gears in October 2021. Notably, the milestone of producing 400 million gears was reached within two and a half years, showcasing the company’s robust growth trajectory.

Additionally, Sona Comstar initiated the manufacturing of differential assemblies at its Gurgaon plant in 2008, expanding to the Pune plant in 2014, and establishing a new state-of-the-art plant in Manesar in 2019. In 2017, the company celebrated the production of its one-millionth differential assembly, reaching the milestone of producing 5 million assemblies by 2023. Impressively, the subsequent one million assemblies were produced in less than nine months, highlighting the company’s efficiency and agility.
