Ola Electric Mobility Limited, India’s electric vehicle manufacturer, has launched ‘Ola Shakti’, its first residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), marking the company’s diversification beyond electric mobility.

With this launch, Ola Electric enters India’s ₹1 lakh crore BESS market, which is projected to grow to over ₹3 lakh crore by 2030. The company anticipates its annual Gigafactory consumption for the BESS segment to reach 5 GWh within the next few years, surpassing its automotive battery usage.

Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal said, “India doesn’t face an energy shortage; it faces an energy storage opportunity. With Ola Shakti, we are turning that opportunity into energy independence. We have developed world-class battery and cell technology for electric mobility, and now we are extending that innovation to homes, enabling clean and intelligent energy usage.”

Ola Shakti is India’s first fully indigenous residential BESS, designed, engineered, and manufactured using Ola’s proprietary 4680 Bharat Cell technology. It features a modular and compact design, allowing flexible installation, easy scalability, and efficient maintenance.

The system delivers 98 % energy efficiency, zero maintenance costs, and automotive-grade safety. It also offers advanced smart features, including real-time monitoring, intelligent backup prioritisation, ToD (Time of Day) scheduling, remote diagnostics, and OTA updates.

Ola Shakti is available in four variants:

  • 1 kW / 1.5 kWh – ₹29,999
  • 1 kW / 3 kWh – ₹55,999
  • 3 kW / 5.2 kWh – ₹1,19,999
  • 6 kW / 9.1 kWh – ₹1,59,999

Reservations are now open at ₹999, with deliveries set to begin from Makar Sankranti 2026.

Ola Electric stated that its Gigafactory infrastructure, combined with a nationwide retail and service network, will allow the company to scale BESS operations rapidly without additional capital or R&D investments.
