Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Limited, has commissioned its 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project in Maharashtra, strengthening its renewable energy portfolio and supporting clean power generation in the state.

Located in Dharashiv district, Maharashtra, the project will supply electricity to Tata Power Mumbai Distribution and contribute towards meeting Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) requirements. The wind farm is expected to generate around 299 million units (kWh) of clean electricity annually.

The project consists of 28 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 3.6 MW. According to the company, the facility is expected to offset approximately 245 million kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions every year, based on an estimated emissions reduction of 0.82 kg of CO₂ per unit of electricity generated.

With the commissioning of the Jewali Wind Project, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has increased to 11.6 GW. Of this, 6.7 GW is operational, including 5.4 GW of solar capacity and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, while 4.9 GW remains under various stages of development.

The under-construction renewable energy portfolio comprises approximately 2.1 GW of solar projects, 2.6 GW of wind projects and 0.2 GW of battery energy storage systems (BESS). These projects are expected to be commissioned in phases over the next six to twenty-four months.

Including the newly commissioned project, TPREL’s overall renewable energy portfolio now exceeds 3.9 GW, with more than 1.3 GW of operational wind capacity and additional projects under implementation across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Tata Power stated that the commissioning of the Jewali Wind Project aligns with its long-term objective of expanding clean energy generation and supporting India’s energy transition through increased renewable power capacity.
