Suzlon to Install 127 Wind Turbines for Zelestra’s 381 MW Renewable Energy Project Across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu

Quick Summary: Suzlon Energy has received a 381 MW order from Zelestra India for its first Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project. The project spans Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, involving the supply of 127 wind turbines.

Suzlon Energy Limited has announced that it will supply wind turbines for Zelestra India’s maiden FDRE project. The order includes 127 of Suzlon’s S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs), each with a rated capacity of 3 MW, totaling 381 MW.

The project will be executed across three Indian states:

  • Maharashtra: 180 MW

  • Madhya Pradesh: 180 MW

  • Tamil Nadu: 21 MW

While the Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh segments are part of SJVN’s FDRE tender, the Tamil Nadu portion is intended for Commercial and Industrial (C&I) power consumers.

Suzlon stated that the S144 turbine order book now stands at approximately 91% capacity. The company will handle the entire value chain from turbine supply to long-term lifecycle services.

Executives from both companies highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership:

  • Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon, noted that FDRE represents a significant shift in India’s energy transition, emphasizing the need for reliable renewable power.

  • JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon, said the company’s integrated solutions enable large-scale execution while ensuring long-term energy security.

  • Sajay KV, CEO of Zelestra India, added that this deal supports their broader 5 GW renewable energy portfolio planned for 2027–2028.
