Bengaluru : Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), a prominent Indian manufacturer of rolling stock, has initiated trainset production as part of a contract with China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) for the Phase 2 Yellow Line project of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). This signifies a significant achievement in Titagarh’s ongoing support of India’s urban transportation infrastructure.

The contract between BMRCL and CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co Ltd, signed in December 2019, faced challenges resulting in delays in meeting the original deadlines. To address the delay in rolling stock supply, CRRC sought additional time and subsequently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Titagarh Rail Systems. Under this MoU, Titagarh will manufacture the trainsets at its advanced facility in Uttarpara.

Titagarh is responsible for producing 34 of the 36 trainsets required for the Yellow Line, with only two trainsets, comprising 12 coaches, to be manufactured in China. To meet the project’s specific requirements, Titagarh has established a dedicated stainless steel production line at its facility. Production commenced on May 18th, 2024, and the first trainset is scheduled for delivery in August 2024.

The 21-km Yellow Line, spanning from RV Road to Bommasandra, is a crucial metro corridor aimed at enhancing connectivity and reducing traffic congestion in Bengaluru. Upon completion, this line is expected to significantly improve urban mobility for the city’s residents. Titagarh’s involvement in this prestigious project highlights its commitment to supporting national infrastructure projects through dependable transportation solutions.

Titagarh’s impressive manufacturing capabilities enable it to address a wide range of transportation needs, solidifying its position as a leader in the rail transportation industry. The company’s ongoing investments in advanced production technologies, coupled with its dedication to quality and innovation, continue to propel its success and contribution to national infrastructure development.
