In Delhi today, Jacinta Allan announced that Sonata Software, a global technology company, will set up its Centre of Excellence in Melbourne with the support of the Labor Government. This initiative is expected to generate approximately 100 new jobs in Victoria over the next three years, including positions for data engineers, solution architects, and technical analysts.
Sonata Software, a leader in Modernization Engineering, offers digital transformation services across various sectors, including retail, consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, telecom, media and technology, banking, financial services, and insurance.
The new Centre of Excellence will concentrate on the retail and manufacturing sectors to meet the increasing demand in Australia for generative AI and data solutions. It will leverage Victoria’s top educational institutions to support its research and development efforts.
Victoria’s advanced technology infrastructure, innovative culture, and robust education and financial services sectors were significant factors in Sonata Software’s choice to establish the Centre in Melbourne. This expansion is set to drive digital innovation and transformation across key local industries, creating IT solutions for global businesses.
The company will also seek talent through the Labor Government’s Digital Jobs program, utilizing the pool of experienced workers with newly acquired digital skills. In 2023, Victoria’s tech sector contributed $35.6 billion to the state’s economy and employed nearly 280,000 tech professionals across over 22,000 businesses.
