The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS Pilani) has outlined plans for a permanent campus for its Amaravati campus in Andhra Pradesh, with the project estimated to involve an investment of ₹1,000 crore.
According to project details shown in the campus planning documents, the proposed development is located across areas in Mandadam and Venkatapalem villages in Thullur mandal of Amaravati, Guntur district. The planned campus covers approximately 28.33 hectares.
₹1,000 Crore Project Investment
The proposed BITS Pilani Amaravati permanent campus has an estimated project cost of ₹1,000 crore. The project planning documents identify the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) as the planning authority.
The campus is planned with a total built-up area of approximately 147,921.9 square metres. The development includes academic facilities, residential accommodation, hostels, student amenities, roads, green areas, parking and future expansion zones.
Academic Infrastructure
The academic area is planned with three buildings and a combined built-up area of about 54,560.4 square metres.
The proposed academic infrastructure includes a welcome block and academic blocks. The campus master plan also provides space for future expansion, allowing additional facilities to be developed as requirements increase.
Residential and Hostel Facilities
The project plans 175 residential units for teaching and non-teaching staff, along with other residential facilities. The residential component has a planned built-up area of approximately 29,172.5 square metres.
The hostel section is planned with three buildings and 1,674 hostel rooms. The total built-up area allocated to the hostel facilities is around 50,315 square metres.
The documents indicate that the hostel infrastructure will include facilities with and without mess arrangements.
Student Amenities and Sports Infrastructure
The proposed campus plan also includes several student-focused facilities. These include a student activity centre, shopping centre, medical centre, high-side services, outdoor sports and play areas, cricket grounds and a swimming pool.
Around 34,278.8 square metres of site area has been allocated to the amenities segment, with a planned built-up area of approximately 13,874 square metres.
The master plan also includes dedicated green areas, open spaces, parking and internal road infrastructure.
Campus Layout and Future Expansion
The site plan incorporates academic buildings, residential facilities, hostels, sports infrastructure and landscaped areas within an integrated campus layout.
A future expansion area of around 6.60 lakh square metres has also been identified in the project plan. The campus design includes internal roads, green spaces and recreational facilities alongside the core academic infrastructure.
The project documents identify bore water or groundwater and APCRDA water as proposed water-supply sources, while electricity is planned through APCPDCL.
BITS Pilani Amaravati Campus Project
The proposed permanent campus represents a large-scale infrastructure development for BITS Pilani’s Amaravati campus. With a planned site area of 28.33 hectares, nearly 1.48 lakh square metres of built-up space and 1,674 hostel rooms, the project is designed to accommodate academic, residential and student-support requirements.
The project details indicate a ₹1,000 crore investment plan and include provisions for future expansion of the campus infrastructure.
