Jakarta , Indonesia : L&T Construction’s Railways Strategic Business Group has secured a notable contract to construct the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Project (Phase 2A), known as Contract Package CP205, for MRT Jakarta in partnership with Sojitz Corporation. This marks L&T’s first EPC Railway Systems Order in the ASEAN region. The Jakarta MRT Phase 2A entails extending the current Jakarta MRT Line from Bundaran HI to Kota, covering approximately 12.5 km with seven underground stations included.
- This package encompasses the procurement and delivery of multiple systems across diverse domains on a design and build basis, including overall system integration. The project scope includes Trackworks, Overhead Contact System, Substation System, Power Distribution System, Signaling System & Telecommunication Systems, SCADA Facility, Platform Screen Doors, and modifications to the equipment installed in the existing OCC and the stations/train sets from Phase-1.
- L&T is India’s foremost provider of turnkey Design-Build/ EPC solutions for Railway Projects, offering single-point responsibility that includes design, engineering, supply, project planning, quality control, and execution. Currently, L&T is involved in executing integrated Railway Systems projects for Mauritius LRT and Dhaka Metro.Numerous railway projects are anticipated to be developed in the ASEAN region over the next decade. With recent increases in infrastructure budgets, governments in these countries are pursuing ambitious plans to expand their urban rail systems. Additionally, investors are increasingly interested, drawn by the region’s promising opportunities for growth.
Securing this order in Jakarta will bolster L&T’s presence in the ASEAN region and position it to secure additional orders in the future. The value of the order ranges from 1,000 to 2,500 crore rupees.
