A Joint Venture Agreement was signed between NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a subsidiary of NLC India Limited, and Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) to strengthen energy security in Assam. The ceremony, held in Guwahati, marked a shared commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
The agreement outlines the creation of a Joint Venture Company (JVC) that will develop 1000 MW of renewable energy projects in Assam. NIRL will hold a 51% stake, while APDCL will hold 49%. NIRL will bring expertise in renewable energy development, and APDCL will handle land acquisition and infrastructure. Power Purchase Agreements will secure the sale of the generated power for 25 years.
This partnership aims to meet Assam’s growing energy needs, ensuring reliable and affordable power while contributing to long-term energy security. It aligns with the Government of India’s focus on increasing renewable energy to support sustainable development.
