Exicom Tele-Systems Limited has announced the start of manufacturing liquid-cooled AC and DC power modules for electric vehicle (EV) chargers at its Smart Manufacturing Facility in Hyderabad, Telangana. The company said the development makes it the first company in India to manufacture liquid-cooled power electronics for EV charging applications.
The new manufacturing capability is part of Exicom’s strategy to expand its advanced EV charging technology portfolio and strengthen India’s position as a manufacturing base for technology-intensive power electronics. The company plans to supply the modules to international markets as well as support its domestic operations.
Liquid cooling is designed to address heat management challenges associated with high-power EV charging. According to Exicom, heat-related stress can contribute significantly to power electronics failures, while liquid-cooled systems can transfer heat more efficiently and maintain lower internal temperatures compared with conventional air-cooled systems.
The liquid-cooled power modules are based on technology developed through Tritium’s charging architecture. Exicom acquired Tritium in 2024 and has been integrating its technology and manufacturing capabilities into its EV charging operations. The modules are designed for high-power charging applications and feature a sealed construction intended to provide protection against dust, moisture and salt air.
Initial production is expected to primarily serve markets in North America and Europe. The modules will support Tritium’s DC charging portfolio, including ultra-fast DC chargers, while subsequent phases are expected to bring the technology closer to Exicom’s customers in India. The company also plans to integrate liquid-cooled architecture into its Harmony DC chargers.
Exicom CEO and Managing Director Anant Nahata said the shift toward faster EV charging is increasing the need for improved thermal management and reliable power electronics. He added that local manufacturing of the technology is expected to support faster development and deployment of high-power charging solutions.
The company’s Hyderabad Smart Manufacturing Facility includes automated production capabilities, digital traceability and specialised testing infrastructure. Exicom said the facility will support the manufacturing of liquid-cooled modules for both domestic and international markets while further integrating the technology and manufacturing capabilities obtained through the Tritium acquisition.
The development comes as EV charging infrastructure continues to require higher-power systems capable of supporting faster charging. Liquid-cooled power electronics can enable higher power densities and improved thermal management, making the technology relevant for the next generation of high-power EV charging infrastructure.
