Torrent Power Limited, the integrated power utility of the diversified Torrent Group, has reinforced its dedication to a green and sustainable future. At the 4th Edition of RE-Invest in Gandhinagar on Monday, the company submitted two ‘Shapath Patras’ to the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India.
The first ‘Shapath Patra’ outlines Torrent Power’s goal to achieve 10 Gigawatts (GW) of installed Renewable Energy (RE) capacity by 2030, with an investment of Rs 57,000 crores. This investment is anticipated to create approximately 25,000 direct and indirect jobs. Additionally, Torrent Power signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat on Monday for the development of a 5 GW solar, wind, or solar-wind hybrid project in Dwarka District, Gujarat.
Green Hydrogen is pivotal for next-generation energy reforms, crucial for net-zero emissions and decarbonizing tough sectors. Torrent Power is pursuing Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects, aiming to establish a 100,000 Kilo Tonnes Per Annum (KTPA) Green Ammonia facility with an investment of Rs 7,200 crores, generating around 1,000 jobs.
Mr. Samir Mehta, Chairman of Torrent Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to advancing renewable energy and aligning with national priorities. Additionally, Torrent Power plans to invest Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000 crores in Pumped Storage Projects (PSP) to support the growing need for energy storage as Solar and Wind energy use increases.
