Munich, Germany : The BMW Group and Tata Technologies, a worldwide leader in product engineering and digital services, have disclosed their agreement to establish a Joint Venture (JV). Their goal is to create an automotive software and IT development center in Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai, India. The formation of the JV is contingent upon review and approval by the appropriate authorities. Bengaluru and Pune will primarily host development and operational activities, while Chennai will specialize in business IT solutions.

Embodying the ethos of ‘engineer in India for the world,’ the Joint Venture (JV) will harness Tata Technologies’ digital engineering prowess and talent pool in India to bolster the BMW Group’s strategic enhancement of software coding capabilities across global IT centers and round-the-clock operations. The JV will concentrate on strategic software development, particularly focusing on solutions for software-defined vehicles (SDV). In the realm of automotive software, the emphasis will encompass automated driving, infotainment, and digital services, while in business IT, it will prioritize digitalization and automation of product development, production, and sales processes. With an initial team of 100 trained and seasoned Tata Technologies professionals, the JV aims to make robust and immediate contributions to software projects, with projections indicating rapid growth to a four-digit workforce in the coming years.
