Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge Ltd in India, intends to establish a multi-party agreement with prominent U.S. defense firms AM General and Mandus Group LLC to investigate the co-development and co-production of next-generation artillery gun platforms.
As the battlefield evolves with near-peer adversaries, there’s a rising demand for modern light artillery systems that offer improved firepower, precision strikes, and tactical mobility. This collaboration aims to provide compact and rugged 105mm and 155mm next-generation artillery platforms that are lightweight, all-terrain, and all-weather capable.
These systems will feature advanced technologies for responsive and survivable fire, enhanced lethality, and optimized crew sizes, ensuring efficient logistics. The 105mm and 155mm howitzers will combine firepower and mobility in a modular design.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Government of India’s Make in India program, Baba Kalyani noted, “Bharat Forge is emerging as a key developer of advanced artillery platforms for global markets. This collaboration aims to co-develop innovative weapon systems.”
John Chadbourne, AM General’s EVP for Business Development, added, “We look forward to partnering with Kalyani and Bharat Forge to deliver advanced mobile artillery capabilities, reflecting our commitment to adapt as the battlefield evolves.”
