On February 20, 2025 (Thursday), Smt. Mamata Banerjee, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, laid the foundation stone for Narayana Health City, Kolkata, a cutting-edge 1,100-bed super-specialty hospital in New Town, Kolkata.

Designed to be equipped with the latest technology, the hospital aims to provide world-class healthcare services to the people of Eastern India. The proposed expansion will occur in phases over the next 3 to 10 years, with the first phase, consisting of 350 beds, expected to begin operations in FY 2028-29. The initial investment for this phase is approximately INR 9,000 million, and it will be financed through a mix of debt and internal accruals.

The hospital’s establishment comes in response to the high patient footfalls at existing Narayana Health hospitals in the Kolkata region, alongside the growing demand for affordable, quality healthcare in West Bengal. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to offering the best clinical care with state-of-the-art infrastructure to the region.
