India:
- On January 30, 2024, Instrument Research & Development Establishment (IRDE), a division of DRDO, finalized a ‘Licensing Agreement for Transfer of Technology’ (LAToT) with Paras Defence and Space Technologies Limited (Paras Defence). This agreement pertains to the transfer of technology for the Remote Control Border Defence System known as the “Weaponisation of Hand Held Thermal Imager with LRF (WHHTI),” developed by IRDE, DRDO.
- The Weaponisation of Hand Held Thermal Imager with Laser Range Finder (WHHTI) is a remotely operated weapon station. It stands out as a singular, self-sufficient system endowed with capabilities for detecting, identifying, and countering threats in border regions and other sensitive areas.
- Paras Defence, with access to this technology, will have the capability to produce and distribute WHHTI within India. These systems can then be supplied to various entities such as the Indian Armed Forces, Ministry of Defence (MoD), Government of India, and Para Military Forces.
