ITI Limited, India’s first public sector undertaking (PSU) post-independence and a leading telecom manufacturing company, has partnered with the Government of Kerala to launch Kerala Savaari 2.0 — an upgraded version of the state’s online auto and cab booking platform.

The upgraded platform was officially launched on November 4, 2025, in Thiruvananthapuram by Kerala’s Labour Minister, Mr. Sivankutty, in the presence of Labour Commissioner Smt. Safna Nazarudeen IAS, technical partners, labour union leaders, and media representatives.

Multi-Modal Expansion by December 2025

Currently operational in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, Kerala Savaari 2.0 aims to evolve into a comprehensive multi-modal transport app by December 2025. The platform will integrate multiple transport options including metro, water metro, metro feeder buses, autos, and cabs — creating a unified mobility ecosystem for urban commuters.

Following its full-scale implementation in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, the project is expected to expand to other cities and districts across Kerala.

Driver-Centric Model

Implemented by the Kerala Motor Workers Welfare Fund Board (KMWWFB) under the Labour Department, Kerala Savaari operates on a subscription-based system rather than a commission model. This government-fixed subscription structure ensures better and more stable income for drivers.

Since the trial phase began in April 2025, Kerala Savaari has onboarded over 23,000 drivers, completed 3.6 lakh trips, and enabled drivers to earn a total of ₹9.36 crore in revenue, averaging around 1,200 daily rides in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.

Broader Integration and Future Plans

Designed as a multi-mobility app, Kerala Savaari 2.0 will integrate metro ticketing, water metro, tourism, temple ticketing, railway bookings, and pre-paid auto services. It also plans to include ambulance and goods transport services, aligning rates as per government norms.

Speaking at the event, Labour Minister Mr. Sivankutty emphasized that Kerala Savaari represents the state’s dedication to ensuring worker welfare and providing safe, affordable public transport.

ITI Limited’s Role

ITI Limited’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Rajesh Rai, expressed that the company is proud to support Kerala’s digital transport ecosystem. The ITI Palakkad Unit has already assisted the state government through initiatives like supplying driving license and registration certificates, digitizing records for the Kerala Motor Workers Welfare Fund Board, and providing laptops to schools.

He added that shortcomings identified during the 2022 pilot phase have been rectified, and ITI’s Palakkad Unit will continue to provide ongoing technical support to ensure smooth functioning of the platform.
