India : On the 26th of February at 12:30 PM, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate to the nation approximately 2000 railway infrastructure projects valued at more than Rs. 41,000 crores via video conferencing.

  • The Prime Minister will initiate the foundation stone laying ceremony for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Spanning across 27 States and Union Territories, these stations will undergo redevelopment at a cost exceeding Rs. 19,000 crores.
  • These stations will serve as ‘City Centres,’ seamlessly integrating both halves of the city. They will feature modern passenger amenities such as roof plazas, exquisite landscaping, intermodal connectivity, enhanced contemporary facades, children’s play areas, kiosks, food courts, and more. Moreover, they will be revamped to be environmentally friendly and accessible to Divyang individuals. Their design will draw inspiration from local culture, heritage, and architecture, ensuring a harmonious blend with their surroundings.
  • The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh, which has undergone redevelopment at a total cost of approximately Rs 385 crores.
  • The Prime Minister will additionally lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate to the nation 1500 Road Over Bridges and Underpasses. These projects, spanning across 24 States and Union Territories, come with a total cost of approximately Rs. 21,520 crores. Their implementation is expected to alleviate congestion, boost safety and connectivity, as well as enhance the capacity and efficiency of rail travel.
