SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, has inked a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) for 500 MW Solar Power and a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for 100 MW Solar Power with Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited (RUVITL). This event took place in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Sh. Bhajan Lal Sharma, in Jaipur. Also in attendance were Smt. Diya Kumari, Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan; Sh. Heeralal Nagar, Minister of Power, Rajasthan; Sh. Subhash Pant, Chief Secretary of Rajasthan; Sh. Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary (Coal); Sh. Alok, ACS Power, Rajasthan; and Sh. Sushil Kumar Sharma, Director (Projects), SJVN.

Smt. Geeta Kapur, Chairman & Managing Director of SJVN, revealed that SGEL has entered into a Long-term Power Usage Agreement & Power Purchase Agreement (PUA/PPA) with Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited (RUVITL) for 25 years, for the supply of a cumulative 600 MW Solar Power. SJVN has signed a Power Usage Agreement with RUVITL for 500 MW Solar Power from the Bikaner Solar Power Project and also a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for 100 MW Solar Power from the Rajasthan Solar Power Project.

Smt. Geeta Kapur further explained that the Power Usage Agreement was signed for the supply of 500 MW Power at a tariff of Rs. 2.57 per unit from the 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project, developed by SGEL under Phase-II (Tranche-3) of the CPSU Scheme. This project, located at Village Banderwala, Bikaner, Rajasthan, is the country’s largest single-location project. The 1000 MW Solar Project is expected to generate 2454.84 million units in the first year and approximately 56,474 million units over 25 years. It is being developed at a cost of Rs. 5,491 Crores and is expected to be commissioned by September 30, 2024, resulting in a reduction of 27,67,219 tonnes of carbon emissions. SGEL has secured the entire 1000 MW tie-up for this project, with UPPCL (200 MW) and JKPCL (300 MW) as the other beneficiaries.

The Power Purchase Agreement was signed for the supply of 100 MW Solar Power at a tariff of Rs. 2.62 per unit from the project awarded to SGEL through Competitive Bidding, for which LOA was issued by RUVITL on October 6, 2023. This project will be developed on 387.56 Acres of land leased by Sambhar Salts Limited at Nawa, Rajasthan, in favor of SGEL for 28 years, on a Build Own and Operate (BOO) basis, at an approximate cost of Rs. 550 Crores. It is expected to generate 252 million units in the first year and approximately 5866 million units over 25 years, with a reduction of 287,434 tonnes of carbon emissions upon commissioning.
