Tata Group and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have entered into a strategic partnership with OpenAI to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption across enterprises, consumers, and social sectors. The collaboration is designed to drive large-scale AI innovation, develop infrastructure, and expand industry-specific AI solutions both in India and globally.
Under the agreement, several thousand Tata Group employees will receive access to Enterprise ChatGPT to enhance productivity, innovation, and operational efficiency. TCS will also leverage OpenAI’s Codex capabilities to improve software engineering workflows and accelerate development outcomes.
The collaboration will focus on building industry-specific agentic AI solutions by combining OpenAI’s advanced AI platforms with TCS’ domain expertise and enterprise implementation capabilities. The companies plan to jointly support global clients through go-to-market initiatives aimed at integrating and scaling AI solutions tailored to organizational needs.
A key component of the partnership involves developing large-scale AI infrastructure in India. TCS’ HyperVault division and OpenAI have agreed to establish AI-ready infrastructure with an initial capacity of 100 megawatts, with plans to scale up to 1 gigawatt in future phases. The infrastructure is expected to support next-generation AI workloads and strengthen India’s position as a global AI hub.
Beyond commercial applications, the collaboration also includes a strong social impact initiative. The OpenAI Foundation and TCS will work together to provide AI training resources and technology toolkits for non-governmental organizations and young learners. The initiative aims to improve livelihoods and enable responsible AI adoption among at least one million Indian youth.
Leadership from both organizations highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership in advancing India’s AI ecosystem. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to build local AI infrastructure, expand digital skills, and accelerate enterprise transformation through emerging technologies.
TCS, which established its HyperVault unit in 2025 to deliver large-scale AI-ready data center infrastructure powered by green energy, expects the partnership to support hyperscalers and AI-driven enterprises through secure, high-density computing environments.
