SpiceJet has expanded its fleet by adding three new aircraft—an Airbus A340 wide-body and two Boeing 737s—marking the start of a large-scale winter expansion. The move aims to meet growing travel demand during the festive season.
The newly inducted aircraft will begin operations between October 10 and 11. As part of this plan, the airline will add 20 aircraft between October and November 2025 under a damp lease model. In addition, four grounded aircraft will return to service by mid-December, further boosting capacity.
SpiceJet aims to more than double its operational fleet and triple its available seat kilometers (ASKM) by December 2025. The airline also plans to introduce new routes and increase flight frequencies to enhance convenience and connectivity for passengers across India and international destinations.
Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, said, “This is the beginning of a large-scale expansion that will redefine SpiceJet’s operations this winter. Each new induction strengthens our operational capability and allows us to serve passengers better across India and beyond.”
SpiceJet operates a fleet of Boeing 737s and Q-400s and is one of India’s largest regional carriers under the government’s UDAN scheme. The airline offers “SpiceMax,” India’s most spacious economy-class seating, across most of its aircraft.
