BAYTOWN (USA) | MUMBAI (India) : JSW Steel, India’s foremost steel company and a flagship entity of the US$ 23 billion JSW Group, has named Robert Simon (Rob) as the Chief Executive Officer of JSW USA. In his new role, he will oversee the overall business operations including slab, coil, pipe, and plate production and sales at Baytown and Mingo Junction. Rob will report to the respective Boards of both JSW Steel’s subsidiary companies.
Rob, an Industrial Engineer from West Virginia University, began his career as a Production Manager and progressed to become the General Manager for Oregon Brass Works. He held various pivotal positions at Evraz North America’s Rocky Mountain Steel Mills, culminating in roles as Vice-President & General Manager and later as Executive Vice-President for the company’s Tubular Division. Subsequently, he joined Steel Dynamics as Vice-President of Structural Products, where he steered the organization through recovery from the financial crisis and established a strong market presence, including in new markets. Rob later served as Chief Executive Officer for the newly established Bayou Steel Group. Before joining JSW USA, he provided consultancy services to several companies, including OmniTrax in Denver, Colorado. Rob has also held leadership roles in industry associations such as the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Steel Manufacturers Association in the USA and as a Board Member of the American Institute of Steel Construction.
