Washington D.C, Baytown, Texas : JSW Steel USA, Inc., a subsidiary of JSW Steel Ltd., India’s foremost steel company and a flagship business of the $24 billion JSW Group, employs over 800 individuals across the United States.
The company intends to invest $110 million in modernizing its steel plate mill operations at its Baytown, Texas manufacturing facilities. These investments will incorporate sustainable technology and state-of-the-art equipment.
The upgraded facilities will focus on producing high-quality monopile steel plates, aimed to support the U.S. Administration’s initiative to expand offshore wind energy. By 2030, this initiative targets deploying 30 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind capacity, sufficient to power 10 million homes with clean energy.
The steel products resulting from these investments will comply with Buy America requirements, particularly in specialized grades and sophisticated applications such as hydrocarbon pipelines, offshore wind towers, offshore wind platforms, high-density pressure vessels, and monopile steel slabs and platforms for offshore wind towers.
This commitment was announced during the 10th SelectUSA Investment Summit hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce in National Harbour, Maryland.
Mr. Parth Jindal, Director of JSW Steel USA, emphasized that the $110 million investment in the Baytown, Texas facility reflects JSW USA’s commitment to sustainability and decarbonization in the U.S. energy sector. CEO Mr. Rob Simon highlighted JSW’s dedication to supplying high-grade steel for U.S. offshore wind projects, underscoring the strong U.S.-India partnership in this strategic industry.
