Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a prominent player in the renewable energy sector and a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has successfully obtained a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), a wholly owned entity of the Maharashtra Government. This award is for the development of a 400 MW wind-solar hybrid project in Maharashtra.

The Letter of Award (LoA) includes an initial capacity of 200 MW and a greenshoe option for an additional 200 MW, marking TPREL’s largest renewable project in Maharashtra to date. This initiative supports MSEDCL’s efforts to meet the state’s Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) and future power demands at competitive tariffs. Secured through a competitive bidding process, the project is set for completion within 24 months of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 895 million kilograms of CO2 annually.

The hybrid project, combining solar and wind energy, will supply MSEDCL, supporting sustainable energy needs and enhancing Maharashtra’s renewable portfolio. It will efficiently use local land resources, promoting regional development. TPREL’s collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra reinforces its commitment to advancing renewable targets and fostering a low-carbon future.
